About

Our work helps create a future where every facet of cycling’s vast potential is realized.

BikePortland.org is an independent daily news source that covers the Portland bike scene. Through our journalism, events, and direct advocacy we inform and inspire thousands of people around the world every day.

The site was founded in July 2005 by Jonathan Maus. Jonathan remains editor and publisher. In May 2013 we added Michael Andersen to the team as our news editor. The producer of our podcast is Lily Karabaic.

BikePortland is run by Pedaltown Media, Inc., a corporation registered in the state of Oregon. The site is supported by a mix of advertising and reader support. In fall of 2015 we launched a subscription program and now have over 250 subscribers who pay $10-$30 a month to support our work.

We’re proud of our work and our standing in the community

“I have a long commute and traffic is really getting me down this year. BikePortland keeps me from losing my biking mind. You’ve done so much for our biking community. It’s inspirational!”
