    About Welcome to D is for Dentist. Welcome! I'm Yesle Kim. This blog is now more than two years old and counting. I first started this blog days after I decided to attend University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I wanted to write this blog as a way to keep writing and keep my friends and family updated on my dental school life. I spent a gap year working in the geology department after graduating from Rice University. I spent a spent a wonderful summer in Korea (where I am from) and moved to Philadelphia in August 2012. I'm the one in the middle. The pictures are from NYE 2013 re-uniting with my best friends in Arizona! And now I'm here after my first two years at Penn- I cried a lot, I laughed a lot, had crisis moments but I am so happy and grateful to be here in dental school on my way to becoming a dentist. I’m living in Philadelphia for the next few years and graduating with my DMD degree in 2016. I love running, musicals, and traveling. I'm also a huge reader. On one of my many runs to get Chinatown pastries About the blog My goal is to write about my life's new chapter: living in Philadelphia and being a dental student. I sometimes talk about my application process. My situation may be different from yours: I am an international applicant, I took a gap year, I got a B.S. in natural sciences. I am in no way a dental admissions expert, but I went through the process and survived. There are a couple of things I wish I had known. I also write about the ups and downs of being a dental student. Although I had a stressful first year I don't doubt for a second my decision to come to dental school. I'll write about cool dental facts I am learning, funny (nerdy) dental jokes, and thoughts on my dental career.
