Beginnings… Delectable Darlings started in 2012 by two friends in love with food and trash TV. Lauren and I would get together a couple of times a week and experiment with new recipes while catching up on our favorite shows like Mad Men and The Real Housewives (OC, BH, NJ & NY). Unfortunately, life happened and time had to be spent elsewhere so for now it’s just me in the kitchen with an occasional guest appearance. About Me… I’m a full-time worker turned stay-at-home mom to the funniest 2 year-old twin girls, ever. When I was a kid I always imagined myself as the next Jane Goodall, studying chimpanzees and sleeping in the jungle. Somehow, that didn’t end up happening and as a new mom, I was struggling with my new identity as a SAHM and I was looking for something that could just be my thing. That’s when I teamed up with Lauren and started Delectable Darlings. I write the blog from my home in Orange County, CA mostly during naptime because it’s nearly impossible to sit down and type with toddlers climbing on me and banging on the keyboard. Sometimes my girlfriends come over and help me cook or bake or shake up some cocktails and even bring me their favorite recipes to try. I haven’t always been a good cook but with the last 10 years of experimenting in the kitchen I think I can call myself one now. Not “great” but definitely good. I still burn things occasionally. With two little rugrats running around the house I don’t have a lot of time to devote to gourmet meals. I like to be able to put together great food without a ton of time, hard to find ingredients or complicated techniques. I don’t have time for that and I know a lot of others don’t either. I want to bring recipes to the blog that anyone with any level of cooking experience can handle. And even more about me… When I’m not cooking, blogging or mommy-ing I like to get out of the house and try new restaurants, go shopping or hike near the beach. I think it’s in our nature as Southern Californians to love the beach but I rarely go in the water…there’s weird stuff in there like fish and trash bags. It creeps me out. I’m a compulsive DIY’er. I always ask myself, “Can I make this?” before buying anything. I have a habit of rearranging things in my house. I’m never happy with the decor so I move everything…constantly. Plus, the girls have a habit of touching things they shouldn’t and every once in a while things end up in pieces on the floor. I really hope you enjoy my blog and find at least one recipe useful!
