The anticipation of this year’s awards recognizing the outstanding and unique accomplishments of our members through the year is growing. Plans for our annual Excellence in Manufacturing Awards dinner are being finalized for the evening of October 2, to coordinate with our 2014 Summit to be held at the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton. Many of our members have accomplished significant improvements in processes, sustainable programs for natural resource uses, education, mentoring programs, or other accomplishments that we may not know about, but want to know. The Excellence in Manufacturing Awards is your opportunity to tell your story so we can all celebrate your accomplishments and properly recognize your efforts. This year some of our members will be nominated by other members. Applications for nominations will be online beginning July 11, or you can pick up at the FCMA office or at one of our committee meetings. The application fee is $100, less than the cost of a banquet ticket. This year in order to encourage you to participate in the event, nominees will receive one ticket to the awards dinner—a discount of $25. Last year a number of our nominees and winners were recognized in the state manufacturing awards. Gerdau won ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ and Vistakon won ‘Manufacturing Mentor of the Year.’ State finalists also included Saft America and Georgia-Pacific Corporation.
