I’m Deb. I am 41 years young. And I am a mom, first and foremost. I have 3 daughters who are the joy of my life. Abbi is 10 and in fifth grade this year. She loves arts and crafts, swimming, and is a Hello Kitty fanatic. Abbi is a unique personality who loves life to the fullest. Hannah is 9, in third grade. She wants to be a veterinarian and loves animals (especially dogs, horses, polar bears and dolphins) and playing sports (especially soccer). Becca is 6 and loves to do anything (and so far everything) that her big sisters are able to do. She’s in kindergarten this year. :) My husband’s name is Ron – and he’s a real-life ‘cable guy’ who used to work long, unpredictable hours, but is finally now on a consistent schedule and we’re loving having him home a lot more often now. He’s also a former graphic designer who loves football (especially the Detroit Lions), computer programming, working on finding new things out about his family tree – and most of all, his family. In 2011 we added a puppy to the mix – Tessa has fit right in and the girls all adore her. I’ve been an avid reader all my life, and still squeeze in as many books as I can find the time to read. For the past few years I’ve also been learning how to knit – you can follow my knitting journey at Just Casting On. I love to walk, listen to podcasts or music, watch tv, and most of all to spend time with my family. My previous work experience was in city planning and GIS, and I dabbled a bit in part-time computer instruction as well. Until the summer of 2008, I worked full-time out of the house as a GIS Analyst – now I work as a social media consultant part-time from home and am loving it! I love meeting new people out in the blogosphere and being a part of the whole mom blogging community. I worked full-time out of the house up until July of 2008, when I was laid off. I spent a couple of years j0b-hunting and building my blogs – and now am working part-time from home doing social media management for sites likeTravelingMom.com – where I also am a regular blog contributor (see below). Along with working from home, I’m still managing my kids and my house and trying to keep everything running smoothly. It’s different from what we’re used to, but our family is all figuring this out together. And no matter what – things still get crazy and hectic! I have been fortunate enough to be invited to the headquarters of Campbell’s (January 2009), Stouffer’s (April 2009) and General Mills (Eat & Greet – August 2009) to participate in blogging events, learn more about these products and companies and share my own thoughts and ideas as well. I love being able to travel, and have met some amazing people through these events – PR folks, other bloggers, and company representatives. In August of 2010, I was one of a select number of bloggers who had the opportunity to visit San Diego, CA and test drive the new 2011 Honda Odyssey and share about it with my readers. And my older daughters and I attended the Crayola Pop Art Pixies VIP Launch Event in New York City in November of 2010. I’ve also attended blogging conferences as well – at BlogHer 2009 in Chicago and 2010 in New York, the first Brands and Bloggers Summit from Midwest Moms Media in Chicago in August 2011, and also the local Gleek Retreat in West Olive, MI in May of 2010 and 2011. I’ve truly enjoyed every moment of these experiences and am always looking for ways to improve myself, my writing and my blogs.
