I'm Alison King - aka PixelPixie - and I'm the founder of Modern Phoenix, in collaboration with my husband Matthew who's driven us around Arizona hunting down midcentury architecture. I'm also Associate Professor of Design at The Art Institute of Phoenix, where I teach Design History. He's an instructor there, too. We've been building up Arizona's largest image bank of midcentury architecture since 2003. Word got out about our effort and people contacted me to contribute their own photos and lore. Soon our message boards were born. You'll see a couple of familiar names around there, I bet, maybe even your neighbors! Think of this area as your endless backyard fence where you can poke your head over and say hi, or swap information and resources about your projects and passions. You can even find homes for sale there. Some of Arizona's finest writers, design researchers and professionals have contributed to The Modern Phoenix Neighborhood Network. We pride ourselves on not only bringing you plenty of professional opinions, but fact-filled primary source material that helps you understand our region's design history better, make sound decisions, and hopefully acquire your own modern property.
