About Us *P.S. I use nick-names on my blog for my children, to protect their privacy* Deployments: Afghanistan One 2008 Iraq 2010 Afghanistan Two 2012 The Husband: In the Infantry, in the service so far for almost 9 years. Career? Maybe. Its one of those mysteries of the universe. His first tour was to Afghanistan in 2008. He came home from Iraq in March 2011. He had a 3rd deployment which began in April 2012 (just two short weeks after we finished our adoption!) back to Afghanistan and returned home in November. He is basically amazing. And sometimes he calls the baby by the dog’s name, but we still love him anyways. He is currently in school obtaining a Masters degree and will then be going on to teach at West Point. Yay, real family time! You can go here to see a slideshow of our family right before this last deployment, or you can go here to see our happy reunion. If you are interested in seeing some different perspectives on deployment, check out the Letters from Team 19. For more posts about Army Life check out the Deployment, Army, Afghanistan, Reintegration, How to PCS, or Army Wives Rule tags. Lora: Mom, Mommy, Mama. Depends on who you ask. I am a Registered Nurse. Blogging is one of the ways I cope with deployment and life in general, and I think it helps Daddy feel connected to our everyday-life when he’s gone. It also gives me an excuse to post innumerable pictures of my cute kids. I’m currently in graduate school at Georgetown University to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. They have a great online program for distance learning, and I am so excited! It’s a lot of work, but I am really enjoying it. Even when I’m not enjoying it, because it’s a lot of work. If that makes sense. You can read this post to see what I think it means to be an Army Spouse: The Army Wife Values Edo: 14 years old, he just finished Middle School. He’s going to be a freshman in high school THIS. YEAR. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! He reads more than any kid I have ever met, and actually retains it all. He is the best big brother these three little ones could ask for, patient with a dash of bossy. At 5’11″ and showing no signs of slowing down, he’s quickly becoming a giant and thinks it is funny to pat me on top of my head. It isn’t. Brace yourselves, people….It’s time to figure out how to Parent a Teenager! Pudah: Eleven years old, with the sweetest soul I have ever encountered. Pudah experiences life at 100% all the time, whether it is Happy, Sad or any emotion in between. He is always the first to give a hug, share a tear, and make up a crazy-pudah-dance. Every kid in his class will tell you that Pudah is their best friend, cause that’s just the kind of kid he is. Vi: She is 8 years old but her eyes have a story that make her seem much older than her years. She grew up in an orphanage in Ukraine, and has recently become the newest member of our family through the process of adoption. Vi has cerebral palsy, but she doesn’t let that stop her from always being on the GO! This girl loves to play outside, go to the park, follow her brothers and sisters everywhere, and going to school. She has taught our family so much about life and love, and we are so very blessed and grateful to have her with us forever! You can see more of her amazing transformation in this post: See Me Walk! Be sure to watch the video, it’s amazing! Ladybug: Seven going on 17. I am not sure what I am going to do with this kid as a teenager, but Daddy had better be home for that bit. She is fearless, intense, and has giant untamable curly hair to match her untamable personality. She sailed through kindergarten as the tiny social butterfly that she is, and she is so excited for first grade! She loves to play babies with her sister or lightsabers with her little brother, and she is always happy to tell anyone and everyone what to do. She is a princess who is learning to share her throne with her new sister, and I think she is doing a pretty awesome job! She is a total Daddy’s girl, always has been and always will be. When these two are together Mama has learned to just get out of the way! The Baby Man: 4 years old old, he started out rather serious but now he’s one heck of a wild child! He loves all things Star Wars, and if he isn’t busy being Anakin he’s busy explaining to you why “Darth Vader is a GOOD DADDY!” He didn’t learn to walk until he was 22 months old, but since he got his glasses you can’t stop him from jumping and climbing on everything! He is everyone’s baby….which basically means he’s super spoiled. He’s quite honestly too cute for his own good! To read about Baby Man’s homebirth story click HERE (nothing gross or scary, I promise! Its totally family friendly :) ). Since his Daddy came home in March he has become much more adventurous and silly, much to my delight, but he can still stare you down with those big hazel eyes. You can go to this post to see more about our family. Thanks for stopping by!
