(I used to update it daily, but since I freelance full-time, my paid writing assignments take precedence.) Who is DP Nguyen? My name is DoanPhuong Nguyen (DP for short). I’m a professional health and blogger writer from Nashville, TN. I have been writing professionally since 2007. My work has appeared in newspapers, parenting magazines, and numerous women’s health websites and blogs. You can also find my work on E-how, Associated Content, Maternity.com, Ezine Articles (I’m a platinum author on Ezine), and a number of other online publications. I’m a graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.A. in Sociology and Psychology), and I have been writing about pregnancy and women’s health topics since 2008. Prior to this, I worked as an editor and ghost writer in the book publishing industry, where I worked on gardening, cooking, and health books for two major non-fiction mainstream publishers. I started this blog in November of 2010 as an extension of my full-time job at that time. I had worked as the primary writer and editor for a successful pregnancy website, owned by a local OB/GYN. Under his guidance and medical advice, I learned everything I ever wanted to know about pregnancy, babies, and women’s health. I began Hip Chick’s Guide to PMS, Pregnancy and Babies as an experiment. I wanted to incorporate what I was learning about SEO with my extensive knowledge of pregnancy and babies. I have been quite successful with this blog, though I am constantly striving to enhance the design, improve the user experience for my readers, and get more traffic to my blog. I’ve never been pregnant, and I’m not a mama yet, but motherhood is definitely something I want in the future. I have always been fascinated with the whole concept of pregnancy – how a sperm and egg can join together and create a baby only 40 weeks later. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming an OB/GYN, or a midwife. Then, as I grew, I discovered that my passion is writing. So now I write. (I am also an aspiring children’s book author, and I belong to the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators – the SCBWI, and I am very active in helping promote children’s literature.)
