Download: PDF Version of Talk of the Sound 2011 Rate Card and Contract *What is CPM and effective CPM rate? CPM This is the cost per 1,000 impressions. For purposes of calculating a rate, it is the unit cost that is only for your reference when comparing one plan to another. The formula is: Monthly Cost ÷ Impression Limit For example, a $1 CPM means $1 for 1000 ad views. For the purpose of ad serving, it is the cost to serve 1,000 ad impressions. Effective CPM We do not bill for overage. You're charged the agreed upon fixed monthly fee which means the effective CPM rate will always be the same or lower than the stated CPM rate. For example, a $6 CPM means $6 for 1000 ad views. If the limit for a one month ad buy is 100,000 page views the fixed rate is $600 for one month. If we serve up 150,000 page views during that month the effective CPM is $4 CPM; you are charged $600 but get an extra 50,000 page views for the month at no additional charge. The effective CPM may be lowered further based on available discounts such as buying ads for longer terms, pre-pay or promotional discounts.
