Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad you are here for a visit. I'm the Alice behind Thoughts from Alice which I started sharing for the world way back in 2007.

I love sharing my eclectic, vintage inspired and kid friendly home decor, creative tutorials, projects that I worked on with my kids, and the beauty that I capture all around me through my camera lens.

I live in a small town outside of Rochester, NY with my husband Joshua, five year old daughter, Hazel, and four year old son, Owen. We are awaiting the arrival of our third child, a girl, due November 13th. We have a ten year old Cairn terrier named Renoir and recently adopted to Abyssian guinea pigs whom the kids named Reggie & Shadow. Life is full and busy and our house is getting smaller by the minute! It's a two bedroom, 1300 square foot home that we plan on putting on the market in the spring. It will likely be another semi-fixer upper like this one, so I will have lots of posts to share of that when we make the move!

I am an artist at heart and usually have about a million creative ideas going through my mind at any given moment. But frustratingly not enough hours or energy to complete most that I start!

I love decorating (and redecorating) our home.

I have a strong faith which gets me through the hard times. Read here for my personal journey through depression.

I am passionate about photography, but basically self-taught with digital (except for one great class that I took from ClickinMoms.com). I waited a long time to get my dream camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III . My favorite lens that's always on it is the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L).

I LOVE coffee. Can't get through the day without it.

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in art. Currently I am a full time mom and part-time blogger.

On a personal note:

This blog is where I capture our life...as imperfect as it is. The irony of my tagline "finding beauty in imperfection", is that I am a perfectionist. Always have been. It is a real struggle at times and can bring me down. Even though I have always loved old, worn, dilapidated things for my home that are far from perfect, I spend too much time not seeing the beauty in my own flaws. The very ones that probably give me the most character. Having children has helped me grow in that area, as has clinging to my faith and knowing that it is not my "works" or my "perfection" that will matter in the end. It is His love.

My goal is not to add to the "illusion" that everything is wonderful and picture perfect here all the time. I do enjoy photography and decorating my home. And I am probably only going to show you it when it is looking pretty spiffy (there is a lot you can't see just outside of that camera view!). If you stopped by unannounced, you would likely trip over several toys on your way in, stumble over piles of laundry, wonder if a tornado passed through (yes, two in fact! :) or ask if we were going to be featured on an upcoming episode of Hoarders.

Being the perfectionist that I am, I sometimes leave blogs and Pinterest feeling like everyone else has it "all together" and "why can't I keep up". Please don't ever leave here feeling that way. If you do, just know at that very moment I am probably stepping in a giant puddle that my dog has left for me to clean up, or finding another random "art project" one of my kids thought up with my deodorant or mascara or attempting to get my kitchen table cleared off of all the clutter...again...and again...and again (why can't I keep that thing cleared?) Sigh.

This is a place where I hope to inspire, share my home decor and diy tips, my art and creative work, attempts at photography and our journey through this beautifully imperfect life.

(I used to blog on Typepad, as some of my long time followers will recall, but moved back to Blogger in 2013. I had a heck of time trying to get my posts transferred and ended up giving up, but they are still here if you want to look through them. Although that blog looks pretty boring now and the photos are cut off since I switched to the free version.)
