Topics includes cellular, personal communications services (PCS), Bluetooth, wireless local area network (WLAN), wireless local loop (WLL), handheld personal computer (HPC), cordless, LMDS/MMDS, mobile computing and personal digital assistant (PDA). Wireless Design Online enables working engineers to keep track of changing standards such as the expanding code division multiple access (CDMA) family, time division multiple access (TDMA), global system for mobile communications (GSM) and its 3G counterparts GPRS and EDGE, personal handyphone system (PHS), advanced mobile phone service (AMPS), IEEE 802.11, and many more. Our goal is to provide the necessary level of technical detail on products, instruments, and components to allow the engineer or technical manager to make educated decisions about design creation -without wading through piles of extraneous specs. Although it is not our goal to turn integrators into fabricators, we will cover integration-level specs for important components. Some of these components include amplifiers, antennas, transmitters, receivers, transceivers, integrated circuits (ICs), RF/microwave components, digital signal processors (DSPs), EMI/RFI shielding and filtering, memory devices, chip sets, boards, oscillators, displays, batteries, and microprocessors. We will also look at the technology that creates and verifies a design, namely test and measurement equipment, computer-aided-design (CAD) tools and electronic-design-automation (EDA) tools, among others.
