About

In business since 2003. As a virtual assistant, I can be your administrative assistant. My office is based in Nashville, Tennessee, but my clients are located all over the United States. I’m pleased to assist businesses and organizations. My specialty is working with authors, agents, and publishers. (Hence the name of my business, WordCount.)

As an entrepreneur, I work on a contract basis. Since I'm not an employee, no employee payroll taxes or benefits are paid. I'm available as you need me. Assignments are communicated using E-mail, Internet, telephone, fax, or U.S. Postal mail. I work on an hourly or project basis. Rates are based on the type of services needed. Special projects are negotiated.

With more than thirty years experience in diverse office environments, I possess the administrative excellence to ensure accurate, timely delivery of your project. Additionally, I am qualified to assist with basic web design and updates

    WordCount is a blog for independent writers. I started it in January 2008 to chart how digital media is changing what news is and how entrepreneurial journalists and freelance writers cover it. WordCount regularly checks in on what’s happening at newspapers, magazines and Web-based news organizations. I also write about the art and science of writing and how to run a freelance writing business. As a long-time technology reporter, I keep track of the latest software tools, social networks and Web apps writers can use to do research, stay organized and be more productive. WordCount has racked up a number of accolades, including being named one of the 2009 top 10 blogs for writers by Writing White Papers, a top 40 freelance writing blogs by oDesk, and a top 10 freelance blogs by blogRank. WordCount also been featured in podcasts and an excerpt appeared in The New Writer’s Handbook 2008, an anthology for beginning writers published in August 2008 by Scarletta Press.
