Raymond Area News is a privately owned, for-profit, web site owned by Cheryl Killam, for the Raymond, NH area and the towns from Manchester to the Seacoast.

The only other contributors are Volunteer Editor Leslie O'Donnell and Correspondent Penny Williams. No one else is authorized to represent this website and the associated business.

The History of Raymond Area News

The idea of creating Raymond Area News, www.raymondareanews.com , the Original Online resource to Raymond and the towns between Manchester to the Seacoast, came about when I served as a selectwoman in Raymond from March 2008 to March of 2010. It was very clear that the citizens of Raymond and the surrounding towns needed an online resource to be able to find out what is happening in their towns and what is coming in the weeks ahead for things to do.

With a 25 year career in Information Technology behind me, I began designing and building a business plan of what Raymond Area News would provide for community-based information. Involved in that planning was Leslie O’Donnell, who has 30-plus years experience as a newspaper editor and reporter, and serves as my partner and editor.

The raymondareanews.com domain name was registered in November 2009 while online news sources from other communities were researched intensely for what looked good and clean, appeared to work or did not work. At it's inception the decision was made not to accept Letters to the Editor or Opinion pieces.

Raymond Area News readers have expressed an interest in sending letters. As of January 2015 we now accept letters that do NOT contain any slander, or libel about anyone for any reason. We reserve the right to not publish a submission.

The Raymond Area News website went live March of 2011 with the Calendar of Things to Do, along with the first local business advertisment in the business directory.

Wild Indigo Creative Services owner Erica Thompson designed the RAN logo, business cards and post cards, Ryder Audette, owner of Sweatshirts Etc, designed the business pens, and Judy Maynard, owner of Proforma TSL, lettered my vehicle, made signs and other marketing materials, all to promote Raymond Area News’ growth.

Raymond Area News has sponsored a soccer team in the Fall Raymond Recreation Soccer program each year since 2010 and the Raymond Farmers Market since winter of 2010, the Raymond Town Fair since 2012 and participated in many business related events and expos in Raymond and neighboring towns.

Raymond Area News is not and never has been affiliated with any other website or news source, nor was it planned in conjunction with any other website, past or current.
