The Council on Recovery is HoustonÕs oldest & largest non-profit organization providing prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and recovery services for individuals and their families affected by alcoholism, drug abuse, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Founded in 1946, The Council is the only organization of its kind providing services to every age and stage in life: Programs for new mothers and babies. Child and adolescent services. At the heart of The Council is the Center for Recovering Families, HoustonÕs premier outpatient addiction and mental health treatment facility, changing lives of individuals and their families through holistic programs that heal the body, mind, and spirit. The Center for Recovering Families offers a full spectrum of treatment programs and therapeutic services for adults, adolescents, and children with the goal of helping clients personally recover and rejoin their families in a healthy, loving, and supportive manner.
